BOARD MEETING –
I.
Parks & Recreation Update- Bill
Wert, Director
Bill explained how he interacts with CRNAA and Newtown Township’s Board of Supervisors. He distributed Pre and Post Game/Practice Field Guidelines. Also, he distributed a job list for Chandler Fields that describes the status of fourteen tasks that are underway. He encouraged good communication between him and us. Tom Rogers explained that we will soon appoint a Board Member to be a Township Liaison that is dedicated to working closely with Parks & Rec in order to streamline contacts.
Bill mentioned that there is a Township meeting scheduled for Tuesday, October 30 @ 7:30 pm and one item on the agenda will be the Planning Commission’s final approval for the Woll Tract. He expects public support will be needed and suggested that our attendance would be helpful. If approved, groundbreaking could be in 2008. This project is nearly four years old. It will include lighted baseball fields (one w/ bases 60 feet and one w/ bases 90 feet). If successful on October 30, the new park will be reviewed for approval on November 14 by the Newtown Township Board of Supervisors.
II.
Bucks County Baseball Update
*Coaches Clinic to be conducted mid- February 2008.
*CRNAA at CR North game April 2008
*We anticipate their support for Bat-a-thon.
III.
District 30 Update- Howard Lemonick
Little League’s new pitching rule in 2008 will require a game rest and a day rest after 41 pitches. However, this could encourage coaches to squeeze even more pitches out of a kid.
Mike Sullivan is Upper Makefield’s new baseball commissioner.
IV. League Staff
We’re starting early and trying to fill all slots asap.
V. CRNAA Constitution
Tom Rogers will review league by-laws for discussion and updates. Last updates were in 2000.
VI. Next Meeting- November 7, 7:30 pm at The Clubhouse
*Set registration dates.
*Discuss fundraising for new shack at Pickering.
